I’ve recently started a new project. The title of it is still floating around in my head, but for the moment I’m calling it The Oyster Bar & Grill. (I’m sure I’ll tweek the title after the first draft is done.) I was telling a friend writing friend about it (Hi Stef!) and she asked me where I got the idea from. Come to think of it, a lot of people have asked me that same question lately and the answer is simple:
“I have no clue.”
I know the setting was inspired by a small town I spent a lot of time in as a child and the Oyster Bar & Grill is based on a favorite seafood place of mine, but after that I have no clue. The characters and basic plot just pop into my head and leave me with so many possibilities. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I’ve been down roads that include love, meat cleavers, betrayal, seafood, greed, kidnapping, old homes, second chances, historical landmarks, and of course, murder. (Yes, someone must die. It’s what I do.) All of these things might make it into the book or none of them, we’ll just have to see how it writes.
You’ll notice in the above list, I mentioned historical landmarks. In my next blog, I’m going to tell you about a landmark that is near and dear to my heart. It is a location I’m thinking about using in The Oyster Bar & Grill. What is it? You’ll have to wait and see!
Love and meat cleavers, Beth, love and meat cleavers. It’s so you that it’s gotta be good.
